Hall of Fame: A Deer Makes a Snack Out of Ghetto Mr. Hunter

One of my all-time favorite Mr. Hunter-themed photo sets!
It's Ghetto Mr. Hunter meeting some sika deer at Nara Park in Kyoto.
He was there with Teresa and Karen.

What are the deer saying?

Love this shot of a lady who's selling snacks for the deer.

Here's some video of the scene at Nara Park that day.

Teresa and Karen, thank you so much for bringing Ghetto Mr. Hunter to Nara Park.  The real Mr. Hunter wants to go meet these critters himself.  Who wouldn't?

La Belle et la Bête

It's been twenty years since Disney's Beauty and the Beast was released.

Mr. Hunter and the Beast's enchanted rose.

The torn portrait.

I still remember going to see Beauty and the Beast with my best friend.  I remember the wondrous feeling of adventure and sadness during the prologue, the feeling that this could be something special.

And I remember cracking up during the "Gaston" song.  Howard Ashman lyrics can be so astonishing; I grieve that we lost him so soon.

Japan Details: Ema in Kyoto

At Kiyomizu-dera Temple,
Ghetto Mr. Hunter checked out some more prayer tablets.

He especially liked this mouse ema.

Travels with Teresa: Sensō-ji Temple

While visiting Sensō-ji Temple in Tokyo, Ghetto Mr. Hunter admired the koi, enjoyed a snack, and posed with another Komainu.

Ghetto Mr. Hunter Visits Tōshō-gū Shrine

The second half of Ghetto Mr. Hunter's inaugural journey with Teresa took them to Japan.  While visiting the Tōshō-gū Shrine in Tokyo's Ueno Park,
Ghetto Mr. H. encountered this friendly fellow.

Nice to meet you, sir!

Komainu (aka "lion dogs") act as guardians at shrines.

Among the features at Tōshō-gū Shrine
is the Flame of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a peace symbol
which commemorates the atomic bomb attacks in Japan.

Those are colorful paper cranes
hanging alongside the Flame of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

About the Flame of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Thanks again to Teresa for letting a flat Mr. Hunter accompany her to Japan!

Travels with Steve: Singapore's Merlion

2008 was a good year for flat friends of Mr. Hunter and Merlions in Singapore.  First, Ghetto Mr. Hunter posed with Merlions big and small when he visited Singapore with Teresa.  A few months later, Steve brought his Flat Mr. Hunter to see the original Merlion.

Travels with Steve: Figures on the Wall

One of these figures is a relatively new--and temporary--addition
to this lovely wall near the edge of Fort Canning in Singapore.

Flat Mr. Hunter got up close and personal with a colorful Lory
when he and Steve toured Jurong Bird Park in Singapore.

The Million Moustache March

Krumbs and Erik grew moustaches in honor of... Pat O'Brien?

No moustache for David, but Mr. Hunter doesn't discriminate on the basis of facial hair.
