Flat Mr. Hunter on Lake Erie

That's the reactor at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.

It seems appropriate that the sky is glowing.

Big Sky at Lake Limpiopungo

As we made our way up towards our Cotopaxi climb, we'd stop occasionally to spend a little time getting our bodies acclimated to the progressively higher altitude.  At Lake Limiopungo, our guide let us out to take a walk, and to enjoy the scenery.  The most amazing thing about this place: the big sky.

A shot of my brother and the big sky, for a little perspective.

On one side loomed the Cotopaxi Volcano; on the other, Ruminahui Volcano.

A lovely place.

¡Bienvenidos a Ecuador!

Last month, Mr. Hunter made his first-ever visit
to a South American country: Ecuador.  Very exciting!

On our first day in Quito, we had a private guide take us out to the Mindo cloud forest.  Along the way, about half an hour outside of Quito, we stopped at an overlook to gaze at the lovely Pululahua Crater.  Pululahua is a long-dormant volcano. Inside the crater, you can see farms and fields, and the surrounding area is a Geobotanical Reserve. It seemed like the perfect spot for Mr. Hunter's debut pose in Ecuador.

Here's a video panorama of the crater:

Drive Yourselves to the City of Salzburg

Naturally, Mr. Hunter is a big fan of The Amazing Race, and he was tickled this week to see teams directed to the city of Salzburg.

Mr. Hunter and his traveling companions basked in this view from the Hohensalzburg Fortress.  That's Salzburg's Old Town in the foreground, and the Salzburg Cathedral (with the green dome) on the right.

The clouds scattered in the blue, blue sky...
The lush green hills surrounding the city...
Mr. Hunter asks me, "When can we go back?"
