On a Shark Diving Cruise

So, Flat Mr. Hunter and his friend Gail flew to Ensenada, Mexico last fall, boarded a small boat, and headed far out into the Pacific Ocean.  Their purpose?  To go on a great white shark dive!  

Gail's the one who actually did the diving.  Flat Mr. Hunter is certainly intrepid and waterproof enough to go diving with great white sharks, but he didn't want his laminated self to end up causing any trouble for divers or sharks, so he stayed on the boat.  He did pose for a few pictures with the shark cage and the home port of Ensenada, just so the rest of us could get a taste of their adventures.

The Swell Shark

At the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Mr. Hunter encountered the notable sight of a soon-to-be swell shark scooting around inside its egg case, waiting to be born.  And according to this fact sheet from the aquarium, it can take between nine and twelve months for a swell shark egg to hatch.

Mr. Hunter Shops for Stuffies

Mr. Hunter found an especially soft and welcoming crew when he shopped at the big Atlantis Logo Store at Marina Village.  Nominee for the cutest of all stuffies for sale: these camouflage sea lions.

The Ray

At the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you can climb into a section underneath one of the displays and watch the sea creatures swim past.  

In these photos, Mr. Hunter and a blissed-out Kerry smile and say "Hello" to a ray as it glides along above them.
